Physical Activity to Keep You Healthy

As winter approaches, it’s important to find ways to stay active and find ways to move daily at home. The CDC recommends that adults aged 65 and older should get 150 minutes of moderate activity a week. Regular physical activity is important to your health no matter what age.

The four main types of exercise are:

  • Endurance: Brisk walking or jogging is a great exercise that will increase your heart health.
  • Strength training: Lifting light weights can help build and maintain your strength.
  • Balance exercises: Standing on one foot or doing yoga can help you improve your balance.
  • Flexibility exercises: Yoga and stretching can help you to stay limber.

Before doing any physical activity, be sure to consult your doctor.

Aging can be hard on your body emotionally and physically. It’s important to keep your body in shape by incorporating gentle movement into your everyday life.
