And…the winner of May’s Inspirational Caregiver award is…
DeAngela Holloway
DeAngela has worked as a caregiver for nine years and always goes “above and beyond”. DeAngela takes initiative and looks for ways she can help clients, often fulfilling unspoken requests and doing much more than just stated duties. For example, during a recent visit to her clients’ home she noticed their deck was a bit neglected and really needed to be cleaned. Without them having to ask, she cleaned their entire deck by hand. They were so pleased that she took this initiative (and happy to sit out on a nice clean deck!).
The wife of one of DeAngela’s clients reiterated this same initiative in her comments: “DeAngela is very thoughtful. She takes care of my husband, and is great at anticipating things that are needed without me having to tell her. In fact, if she hears me discuss things with my husband that I want to get done today, she will just go ahead and do it. She also encourages him to be active and I really appreciate that.”
About the Inspirational Home Caregiver Award: EasyLiving will be selecting an Inspirational Caregiver each month from five finalists. Each finalist receives a $25 gift card and the winner receives $100. The winner is announced on the last Monday of each month (May 20th this month due to the Memorial Day holiday) on The Caregiver Hour radio show on Clear Channel 1250 AM WHNZ as well as being spotlighted on EasyLiving’s website and Facebook page. This unique award program is designed to highlight the important work that home caregivers do to assist seniors in our community. There is a high demand for such services as a growing aging population seeks support to remain safe and healthy at home. Too often, caregivers working in this field receive little recognition or support.
EasyLiving created its unique iCaRewards program to recognize and support home caregivers more fully. This program consists of various incentives, rewards, fun events and initiatives like the Inspirational Caregiver Award.
