veterans day 2016

In honor of Veterans Day 2016 we wish to offer a tribute to veterans of all ages! A sincere thank you for your service to our country. We also hope to take our tribute beyond Veterans Day 2016 as we continuously work with veterans and look for ways to help. We appreciate the many veteran clients we’ve been able to serve over the years, though our service is so little compared to what they’ve done for us/our country.

Throughout the month of November, we’ll be sharing veterans resources and benefits information. Make sure you follow us on Facebook or check our blog weekly for all our posts.

In honor of Veterans Day 2016, Elder Law Attorney and Founder of EasyLiving Linda Chamberlain, will hold a free workshop on what to expect from veterans benefits on November 8th from 1:00-2:30 PM. Please make plans to join us and share the flier or link with someone you know who could benefit!

Volunteering to Help Veterans

If you want to volunteer to help veterans beyond Veterans Day 2016, here are some ideas:

VA Volunteer Information: for information on all types of volunteer and donation options.

The Gary Sinise Foundation: a wide range of programs for active and retired military. One example is the Soaring Valor program preserving WW2 vets’ oral histories and sponsoring visits to the WW2 museum. They’ve also helped provide specially adapted smart homes for wounded vets and provided a number of support programs.

You can also contact local senior organizations and facilities, where many older veterans could use your support with tasks and companionship.

Resources for Veterans

Check out our overview of resources for older veterans which also includes an important article on scams targeting veterans. Our Aging Wisely care managers offer a breakdown of some of the most common veterans resources and benefits that our older clients need to access.

Our home care team can help disabled and older veterans with personalized care at home, transportation and more. We’re glad to point you in the right direction for benefits that can help pay for care. We can arrange for one of our care managers to assist you in navigating options. Contact us at 727-447-5845 if you need assistance!

We’ll offer more resources and details about veterans benefits throughout November. Please check back here and follow us on Facebook, where we’ll also share great activity ideas for Veterans Day 2016.
