EasyLiving has been providing elder services in Pinellas County since 2005, with a long family history of elder advocacy and services many years prior.  We recently changed our mission statement to better reflect how we have evolved over time and our core beliefs.  Our Executive Director, Alex Chamberlain, shares the reasons behind our new mission statement and what it means to our team, our clients, our colleagues and the local community:

After some recent meetings, I decided we needed to change our mission statement to be more reflective of who we really are.  My meetings with some companies and services in our field left me feeling a bit sad.  It seemed that many companies did not offer much to differentiate themselves, and when they did it was not people-focused.  It bothered me to think that too often in senior care and healthcare, the whole purpose of what we do is forgotten.

Here is the new, improved statement that demonstrates why our home care model’s emphasis on employees first is so important to us:

Our mission is To create an environment where we set our team members up for success empowering them to provide the best in home care service to the community.

The emphasis is on our team members, so that they can provide the best care.  We must fulfill our duty to our team members in order that they can successfully carry out their duties for the clients.  The emphasis is also on the community, because everything we do is focused on how we can positively contribute to Pinellas County and its people.  We do not have a Tampa branch or a Sarasota branch, or goals to be the largest company to dominate the market.  We have a long history in the community and a local focus.  We have a true belief in making a difference in client’s lives.

I look forward to sharing more about our mission statement, our goals and some of the specific examples of how we carry this out in future posts.
